One day a client came into the office. I noticed his last name and it was the same as my maiden name, Graves. We wondered briefly if we were related and then proceeded with the tax interview. When I got to the question, "Are you dead yes or no?", I asked it in the way I usually do and he chuckled and said "That is really funny because my Dad is a Funeral Director". I said "What is even funnier, is that I also work at the funeral home here in town". So we both laughed and then continued with the job at hand. It must all be in the name!

As I was interviewing one particular client while her two teenage daughters were present, I came upon an interesting situation. While I was doing my usual interview, I got to the place where the birthdate appears, if the client has been in the office before, and asked my client if she had changed her birthdate lately. She gave me this blank stare, as did her two daughters, for what seemed several minutes, although I know it was a really very short moment. When she finally chose to respond to my question, she answered with "You mean you can do that?" I wanted to laugh so hard! I explained that I was joking and that no it could not be changed. Next up after that question is the box for deceased yes or no, I so badly wanted to mark yes, as this lady and her daughters were obviously not living!!!
